We talk a lot about the companies building and deploying AI products. But that’s wrong. It’s people - human beings are still the ones ideating, creating and building those AI companies.
And those people benefit enormously from physical connections.
Founders need to meet investors. Growing companies need specialist talent. Builders benefit from exchanging ideas with other builders. Start-ups need customers, partners and expertise. And sometimes the most valuable conversations are the ones that were never scheduled in the first place.
That’s what makes The Stack so exciting.
The Stack is a new physical hub for AI founders, companies and builders opening in Amsterdam in September 2026. And infinitSpace is proud to be supporting this important, ambitious undertaking as its Workspace Operating Partner.
Creating a centre of gravity for AI
Located at Jacob Bontiusplaats 9 in Amsterdam’s Oostenburg district, The Stack is being created to support and nurture the AI ecosystem.
It has been co-founded by Dutch AI entrepreneurs Lennard Zwart, Maarten Stolk and Philip Gast together with Techleap, whose Special Envoy Constantijn van Oranje is closely involved in the initiative.
Its first phase will comprise approximately 4,500 square metres of offices, shared workspaces, development areas and a purpose-built event space, with plans to expand to around 12,000 square metres by 2029.
But the ambition is about much more than providing desks.
The Stack is designed to bring AI founders and builders into closer proximity with the people and organisations that can help them progress: technical talent, investors, knowledge institutions, corporate partners and potential customers.
Creating a dedicated physical community can make those relationships easier to form. An introduction at an event can become a commercial partnership. A conversation between neighbouring founders can lead to shared knowledge or talent. An investor can meet businesses before they would otherwise cross paths.
The workspace provides the setting, but the community is what gives it purpose.
Giving The Stack the freedom to build its own community
That distinction is also central to infinitSpace’s role.
The Stack is not an infinitSpace-branded workspace. Its identity, mission and community belong to The Stack, and its team will lead the programme and decide how that community develops.
Our role is to provide the operating platform underneath it.
As Workspace Operating Partner, infinitSpace will support the technology, commercial operations, member experience, reporting, supplier coordination, hospitality standards and day-to-day management of the workspace.
In practical terms, that means The Stack’s team does not have to become a workspace operator at the same time as it is trying to build one of Europe’s most interesting AI communities.
Instead, it can focus its attention on the elements that make The Stack distinctive: choosing the right residents, developing events and programmes, forging partnerships and creating valuable connections between members.
Infrastructure without imposing an identity
This is precisely what our white-label model is intended to enable.
There are workspace concepts where the brand of the operator is central to the proposition. The Stack is different. Its value comes from having a clearly defined audience and purpose of its own.
So rather than placing infinitSpace at the front of the member experience, we provide the infrastructure that allows The Stack’s identity to remain front and centre.
Both parties believe passionately that human connection and community building are integral to business success. And we’re each bringing our expertise to the initiative.
Our technology and operational capabilities will help manage the practical experience of using the workspace – from how members access and use the building to how its commercial and operational performance is managed – while The Stack remains unmistakably The Stack.
Making space for connections to happen
The Stack will ultimately be shaped by the founders, builders and businesses that occupy it.
Our job is to help create the conditions in which that community can thrive: a workspace that functions reliably, supports the programme around it, and allows The Stack’s team to concentrate on bringing the right people together.
For infinitSpace, that makes this partnership particularly exciting. We are not simply opening another workspace in Amsterdam. We are providing the operating foundation for a new community with its own identity, ambitions and purpose.
As the doors open this September, we are looking forward to seeing what the people inside build – both in AI and with one another.
